A Place for Grieving Children & Their Families • Today is

WARM Place Volunteers Make a Difference.

Since its beginning in August 1989 as a grief support center for children, The WARM Place has helped return smiles to the faces of over 10,000 children who have experienced a death loss of a parent, sibling, or other loved one. These children have experienced a miracle of healing and hope, sharing their journey through grief with our staff and volunteers.

It is through the generous contributions of volunteers like you that we are able to offer this much needed assistance to grieving children and their families in our community, as there is never a fee for our services.

Currently we need volunteers age 18 or older

to fill positions in two key areas:

House Parents and Facilitators

FACILITATORS

Facilitator volunteers act as discussion leaders at bi-weekly support groups from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m..

There are seven training sessions required for this position and volunteers will work with Pre-schoolers (3 & 4 years old), young children (5 to 8 years old),

preteens (9 to 12 years old), Teens (13 to 18 years old) or young adult groups.

Our Fall  Facilitator training sessions will meet on

Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.

and Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m.

for a total of seven sessions.

September 9 through October 4, 2008

HOUSE PARENTS

House Parent volunteers work every other week from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

They greet the families as they arrive,

help in the kitchen arranging the pot-luck dinner,

and help clean up after the meal.

There are no prior training sessions required for this position.

Volunteers Contribution to Our Success: PRICELESS
Everyday at The WARM Place we depend on volunteers.

Their contributions to our organization are truly without measure.

There is a quote by Oscar Arias which reads,

"The effect of one good-hearted person is incalculable."

That sums up how we feel about our volunteers.

Throughout the year, there are close to 200 volunteers,

in addition to 18 regular board members,

coming and going on different days and nights,

that make The WARM Place run.

Three of our volunteers have been helping here

since The WARM Place began in 1989.
