The 2017 Grief Symposium is coming!

Mark your summer schedule now to attend our 2017 Grief Symposium for School Counselors, Teachers and Administrators. One of the most frequent calls we receive at The WARM Place is from caring counselors and teachers asking how they can help a grieving student at their school. According to the New York Life Foundation, 7 out of 10 teachers have a grieving student in their classroom. Despite how common a death loss can be, grieving students continue to feel isolated and different from their peers. We know their school work, grades, participation in extra-curricular activities, ability to concentrate, and friendships can all be impacted by their grief. At the 2017 Grief Symposium, The WARM Place counselors will provide practical tools to help school counselors, teachers, and administrators with the following concerns:

  • How to help a grieving student
  • How to prepare other students to support a grieving classmate
  • When and how to provide flexibility for the grieving student
  • What to do when a student dies
  • When suicide or homicide impact your school

We will offer 5 sessions this summer focusing on Elementary and Secondary Grades. We will also provide psychoeducational information about the most common myths of grief, how children of all ages express their grief, and how to refer a family to The WARM Place. We are so excited to connect with counselors and educators who want to support their grieving students!

Click here to register today and feel free to download our event flyer to share with colleagues, family, and friends!  Together, we can help heal the hearts of grieving children.
