Mahalo to our Volunteers!

On Saturday, April 6th, we hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Luau at The WARM Place in honor of our amazing volunteers. April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and our luau was the perfect way to kick off a month full of saying ‘mahalo’!

The rain didn’t put a damper on our island oasis, as trained hula dancers showed everyone proper technique and different dance moves. Genghis Grill provided a wonderful stir fry lunch, and A Dancing Baker donated the most delicious sugar cookies! We also enjoyed flavorful snow cones from Kona Ice, which hit the spot! A highlight of the afternoon was taking time to recognize volunteers that reached their 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and now 30 years of service marks as volunteers for The WARM Place! In honor of their time, these volunteers received plaques on our volunteer recognition wall.

It is through the dedication and commitment from our volunteers that allow us to offer our grief support services at no cost to WARM Place families. From greeting families at the door, to serving dinner, leading activities and discussion with the children—every aspect of our peer support groups is made possible by volunteers. We really mean it when we say, volunteers are the heart of our program!

The WARM Place volunteers help us provide grieving families with a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment to process their feelings. Each and every volunteer at The WARM Place has a heart for our families and shares their time and compassion with them willingly. We are so honored that they choose to give to our organization and community, as their commitment and dedication make our mission possible.

Check out all of the fun pictures from the luau on Facebook and the video recap below!
