Presentations from The WARM Place

Children's Grief

This training will provide information about what children and adolescents experience after a death loss, how to talk to children about death, explore age-appropriate understanding of death, increase understanding about the feelings and thoughts underlying a child's behavior, and develop strategies in supporting children and adolescents after a death.

Helpful Activities

This training will provide helpful activities and strategies in supporting children and adolescents after a death loss. These activities will help them explore their feelings, share memories, tell their stories, and develop healthy coping strategies. We will provide you with practical tools when working with children at different age levels and help to support them through their grief journey.

Grief and Bereavement

This training will provide an overview of grief and bereavement, discuss common myths about grief, provide developmental understanding of death, recognize when support is needed, discuss how to provide support, and explore what to say after a death. We will review the importance of monitoring grief reactions and will provide a brief overview of self-care.

Self-Care

This training will explore ways to make self-care a priority and strategies to increase self-awareness. We will explore ways to ask for help, take time for yourself, and identify healthy coping strategies.

Providing Grief Support to Families

This training will address the common question, "how can I help," and address ways to best support friends and family after a death loss. We will help to develop a better understanding of grief reactions and discuss ways to walkalong side others in their grief journey.

Providing Grief Support in Schools

This training will help teachers, school counselors, and administrators provide support to children who are grieving in a school setting.  Learning topics will include common characteristics of grief in children and adolescents, myths of grief, helpful strategies when grief impacts your classroom, what to do when suicide impacts your school, and practical tools when working with children who are grieving at different age levels.

We know that working together as a community is one of the best ways to help even more grieving hearts. We look forward to sharing helpful information, connecting, and reinforcing hope.

"Oftentimes, death and dying is a conversation that people shy away from. These presentations and dialogues we're having help people engage in more honest conversations about death, which helps both adults and children."
