Tell us about yourself!

My name is Jennifer Roosth. I have lived in Fort Worth since 2018. My husband and I have a four-year-old son named Brady and a bernedoodle named Lucy – they’re best of friends and keep life fun and busy. I love spending time with family and friends, playing Mahjong, and curling up with a good book.

When did you first learn about The WARM Place and what brought you here?

I first learned about The WARM Place through my dear friend, Shelley Bettis, the Executive Director. She has always shared what a special place it is and the incredible impact it has on children and families. When I decided to stay home from teaching, I still wanted to work with kids and give back to the community. Becoming a facilitator and volunteering weekly at The WARM Place has been a wonderful way to do that. I have been volunteering at The WARM Place since 2023.

What is your favorite thing about volunteering with The WARM Place?

My favorite thing about volunteering with The WARM Place is the opportunity to work with kids. I was a teacher for many years, and supporting and connecting with children has always been near and dear to my heart. I also love the people I volunteer with – the community is so special, and I truly look forward to going each week and seeing their smiling faces.

You also volunteer on our golf committee for The WARM Place Classic fundraiser. What has that experience been like for you?

I’ve been on The WARM Place Classic Committee since the very first year, and now six tournaments later, it’s truly one of my favorite days. I know nothing about golf, but everyone involved is so generous, and it’s such a fun event to help with. It’s wonderful to see all of the players out in the sunshine, doing something they love while supporting The WARM Place and the families it serves.

What’s been one of your most memorable moments volunteering at The WARM Place?

One of my most memorable experiences volunteering at The WARM Place has been working with the Pre-K group. They are so much fun. The kids are incredibly kind and thoughtful, and they always say things that make you smile. They are truly a very special group of kids.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about volunteering at The WARM Place?

Do it – you won’t regret it. Getting to know these amazing families and supporting them as they navigate such difficult times is incredibly meaningful. The impact it has on them – and on you – will stay with you long after you leave each week.
