BUNCO! A word hollered all throughout The WARM Place at the first family night of 2024! On Friday, January 26th we welcomed over 70 children and their families for a fun Bunco and BBQ themed family night. This exciting game was first played at a Bunco and Breakfast themed family night back in 2017 and has been a favorite ever since.
Families rushed in from the rain and started the night with a tasty BBQ dinner from Not Just Q BBQ! Everything from brisket to smoked sausage to pulled pork, the mouth-watering smell pulled everyone into the kitchen for a wonderful meal together. Once tacos and sandwiches were a thing of the past, things got serious, and it was time to bunco.
Volunteers and staff members helped explain the rules and flow of the game, as only three people in attendance had ever played bunco before! If you are unfamiliar, the game is intended to be played quickly and in sets of four. After each game, you rotate seats to have new teammates each round. This created a very fun energy and fast pace throughout the dining room that had everyone laughing and enjoying the friendly competition. This moving of seats also created opportunities for WARM Place families to meet others they may not have otherwise crossed pass with.
The evening ended with prizes handed out to the winners for the most buncos, wins and losses! Though it was a rainy and cold evening outside, we were grateful to the families that weathered the storms to spend the evening together, making new memories as a family.
